What is a music conference?
What is the difference between a “music conference” and a “music festival?”
While they both offer a chance to see and play live performances and meet people, a music conference is also about the music industry. It’s where musicians and industry professionals gather to share their knowledge and experience for the purpose of stimulating ideas, conversation and creativity in the industry.
In Japan, there are many music festivals, but KMC is the only globally oriented music conference; an event that features a wide range of interesting music and opportunities, sponsors seminars and workshops about the music industry and brings together musicians from all over the world, all at the same time.
What is KMC?
With 450% growth in its first 3 years, KMC has become the fastest growing, independently run, globally focused music industry event in Japan. As an event that brings together independent artists and musicians from 5 continents, the theme of “Building Bridges With Music,” is not just a phrase, it’s an experience that hundreds of musicians and music fans worldwide have been a part of.

As a series of not-for-profit events held throughout the year culminating with a music conference in September, KMC provides a forum for independent musicians around the world to gather in Osaka and network with other musicians, music related companies and organizations, make new fans and experience the live music scene in Japan. Bridging Cultures
Regardless of nationality and native languages, KMC artists often use the common language of music to have jam sessions, collaborate on performances, tour and record together, not only at the conference, but in Canada, UK, Australia and other countries as well. KMC events, panel discussions and workshops are always multi-dimensional with artists from different backgrounds performing together and playing different styles of music from acoustic, classical and jazz to rock, world, gospel and more.
